The public defense of graduation projects by students of AlmaU University’s Urban Studies and City Management educational program was held at the Almaty Development Centre.

As part of their final assessment, students presented research and practice-oriented projects focused on key urban development challenges in Almaty. The topics covered included the preservation of the city’s historical and cultural heritage, strengthening the participation of local communities in urban governance, the development of public spaces, and improving visual navigation at public transport stops.

During the defense, graduates showcased the results of their research, analytical findings, and project proposals aimed at enhancing the quality of the urban environment and improving residents’ everyday experience. Experts and invited professionals discussed the practical relevance of the projects, as well as their potential for further development and implementation in the city.

Hosting the defense at the Almaty Development Centre highlighted the importance of collaboration between academia and the professional community. Such partnerships provide students with valuable feedback from practitioners, help them better understand contemporary urban challenges, and support the development of competencies required in urban planning, city management, and sustainable urban development.
