Project management: a new way of working and tighter control over key initiatives

28.01.2026

The Almaty City Development Centre has launched an updated project management format focused on increasing accountability, process transparency and achieving measurable results. During a working meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Board Amangeldy Sattarov, key changes in the organisation of project activities, control mechanisms and approaches to supporting strategic initiatives were outlined.

A new vision for the organisation of project work was presented during the meeting. A decision was made to hold regular reporting meetings with the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. These meetings will monitor the status of project implementation, analyse risks and review management decisions.

The need for a systematic approach to addressing complex and interdepartmental issues was highlighted. It was emphasised that such issues should be brought to the appropriate level for decision-making in a timely manner, without delay.

Particular attention was paid to on-site monitoring of project implementation. It was noted that on-site control is an essential element of project management and allows for the timely identification of problematic issues, assessment of the actual progress of work, and prompt management decisions. The results of on-site monitoring should be reflected in roadmaps and taken into account when preparing reports.

The roadmap has been identified as a key tool for the work. Each project manager has been tasked with developing their own roadmap for their area of responsibility, with clearly defined stages, deadlines, performance indicators and areas of responsibility.
