The «Open Almaty» project was voted as one of the best at the «Ljubljana Forum 2017» held in Slovenia, and took the second place in the «Future of Cities» category among the countries of Southeastern Europe. The aim of the annual award is to identify and promote innovative advanced Smart City development projects. The first place was taken by the Maribor (Slovenia) project «wCycle» and the third place was awarded to the project from Zagreb (Croatia).»
The «Ljubljana Forum - 2017» is an annual forum bringing together city leaders, the Regional Cooperation Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament, the European Investment Bank, government representatives, industry representatives and many others. The key topics for more than 200 participants were the pooling of knowledge and experience in the area of sustainable urban development.
The development of Almaty city in the direction of «Smart City» is carried out within the framework of the state program «Digital Kazakhstan» and the city development program «Almaty-2020.» The project involves the introduction of modern technologies in each areas of life of the city, a high standard of quality of life, mobility and active participation of the population in urban life.
As part of the implementation of the «Smart City» concept, the public reception of the Akimat of Almaty «Open Almaty»
was launched in September. It is a project on solving life situations and providing services to the population.
