Today, August 24, the Almaty City Development Center signed a contract with a consortium formed by the Institute of Engineering and Information Technology of KBTU and the international consulting company IDC. The consortium is the winner of the Smart Almaty Concept Development Competition. According to the agreement, the development of the Concept will be carried out jointly with the Almaty City Development Center.
IDC already has the experience of creating similar concepts for the cities of Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and New York (USA). The Institute of Engineering and Information Technology of KBTU has considerable experience in the automation market and the development of information and analytical systems at the urban and national level. A combination of experience in local and international markets will ensure the effectiveness and relevance of the Concept being developed.
The concept will include the development of such priority areas as Smart Transport, Smart Housing, Safe City, Smart Services, Health and Education.
The work on the creation of the Smart Almaty Project Concept includes studying the current state of information and communication technologies in Almaty, assessing their maturity and further development, which should ensure the integration of existing and prospective projects, including the «Electronic Government» project.
Also according to the agreement, work will be carried out to study the experience of the successful implementation of the Smart City project on the example of 20 cities around the world. This will allow to make a comparative assessment of the current and planned situation in the city and introduce the best technological solutions, taking into account the features and priorities for Almaty.
In order to ensure a high level of coordination and relevance of the Concept, an expert working group will be created among the leadership of the administration, public associations, representatives of business communities in each of the priority areas.
