In the spring of 2017, the Almaty City Development Center, together with the Tourism and External Relations Department, held a workshop to develop elements of the improvement of hiking trails with the participation of citizens and designers.
The participants of the workshop took a walking tour and assessed the condition of the tourist route from the Enlightenment to Kok-Jailau, so that all holidaymakers could easily make the planned hike, excursion or walk.
The 3.8 km long trail passes through birch and pine groves, with remarkable views of the Kumbel Peak, the Talgar Pass and the peaks closest to it.
During the workshop, participants noted the presence or absence of benches, gazebos, information boards, route signs and other elements of landscaping, warning signs that could contribute to a comfortable tourist campaign.
At the end of the workshop, the participants identified the necessary design solutions, on the basis of which they prepared a presentation of the proposed sketches.
In addition, work is under way to improve the hiking and eco-routes in the Medeu SRNP and Ile Alatau SNNP. Work is under way to establish the «Medeu-Kok Jailau«, "Medeu-Gorelnik» and «Medeu-Kim Asar» trails. Six environmental trails are also planned in the future.
