Specialists of the Almaty Development Centre, government agencies and members of the public study the experience of British colleagues in the development of master plans, urban budget planning, and digitalization. During the trip, experts will visit London, Manchester and Glasgow, where they will explore a number of projects aimed at creating a sustainable urban environment, developing a digital government platform, developing projects in the fields of innovative urbanism, transport, energy and the environment, health, social welfare - Digital Greenwich, Future Cities Catapult, City Verve, Future City Glasgow, IGLOO Regeneration.


The visit will include a series of meetings with city councils, city council representatives, the Department of Public Funding, the Head of Architectural Design Scotland, and university leaders to examine the role of educational institutions in the development of business incubators. Also, the working group from Almaty will visit the office of the innovation fund «NESTA» with an overview of social digital innovation and the human factor in the development of a smart city.

From the history of bilateral relations.

Since March 2017, the British Council, the administration of Almaty, Kazakhstan-British Technical University and ADC have been implementing a joint three-year WeAlmaty project. The Smart City concept was carried out in the first year of the project. This year, the focus is on urban planning, including the development of the Master Plan. Architectural bureau experts will be involved in the course of the year and best practices will be shared.
