According to the master plan of development of Almaty, enterprises that inefficiently use the territory in the city center, damage the environment and represent a big threat of man-made disaster, will be moved beyond the city line. This became known during the roundtable meeting on «Innovation Ecosystem and Urban Environment.»
It is not yet known which factories will change location. The first in line are the giant enterprises of the Soviet period, where now reigns collapse and devastation. The free territories will be given to the social sphere - houses, hospitals, schools and kindergartens. By the way, according to the latter situation in Almaty is difficult: the coverage of preschool education in the city is only 70 percent.
As an alternative to business, the Industrial Area and the SEZ ITP ‘Alatau’ are offered. These two spaces, where there is a budgeted infrastructure and tax incentives, are ideal for doing business.

In addition, land tax rates will be revised in Almaty in the coming years. And this is another reason to think about the redeployment of their production facilities for businessmen.
«Production areas and commercial areas will be more expensive than, for example, a socially oriented sphere. Moreover, there used to be an advisory the ‘Almaty City Planning Council’. In the case of an interesting conceptual proposal for the city, the investor could convince the City Council of its significance, and the City Council could change the city's detailed project planning. Last month, as part of the Amendments to DoingBusiness, the City Council was abolished, and such a decision-making tool no longer exist. Accordingly, in order to change the detailed project planning of the city will need to pass public hearings. Therefore, now it is extremely important for business to understand what the General Plan is and its consequences,» said the chairman of the board of the Almaty City Development Center, Zhanna Tulegenova.
Representatives of the business community were also informed about the development of a new master plan, which will be built in the future southern metropolis.
«The design of the concept plan will be ready in August, and in the autumn we will bring it up for wide discussion,» added Zhanna Tulegenova.
The roundtable meeting, chaired by Almaty's mayor’s deputy, Almas Madiyev, was chaired by representatives of the ACF PIT, SEZ PIT, the Industrial Area, members of the Business and Community Council, entrepreneurs, university representatives, application and software developers.
