The document was a logical follow-up to a working meeting held at the Alnaty development center with representatives of public and expert environmental communities, as well as subsequent participation in an event organized by the Almaty Air Initiative Foundation and dedicated to air quality and the environmental situation in the city, which took place in January of this year.
The signing of the Memorandum aims to consolidate the parties' efforts to improve air quality and develop a sustainable environmental agenda for Almaty.
Key areas of cooperation include:
• Monitoring and Data — joint collection, analysis, and interpretation of data on the state of atmospheric air in the metropolis;
• Innovation — testing and implementation of modern technological solutions in air purification and emission control;
• Expertise — engaging the Foundation's experts in the development of master plans and strategic documents for the city's development in terms of environmental sustainability;
• Information Work — organizing joint environmental forums, workshops, and educational campaigns for Almaty residents on clean air issues;
• Digitalization – integration of the Fund's data (if technically feasible) into the Smart City and «Digital Twin of Almaty» systems, overseen by the CRA;
• PR support – implementation of joint publications in the media, social media, and other public channels to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle and highlight joint initiatives.
As part of the Memorandum's implementation, the Fund is providing the CRA with a free Strategy for Accelerating Air Quality Improvement for expert review, analytical assessment, and possible subsequent integration into city development documents and plans.
The CRA views this partnership as an important step in developing systemic interaction with the expert and civil society community and intends to consistently utilize best analytical and technological practices to improve the quality of Almaty's urban environment.
