On November 11, 2016, kazakhstan-British Technical University hosted a dialogue platform on «Creating the Smart Almaty Concept.»

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the public to the project being developed, to provide a dialogue and to get an opportunity to exchange ideas and recommendations for the development of Smart Almaty.
The Chairman of the Board of the Almaty City Development Center, Zhanna Tulegenova, spoke about the stages of the concept's development.
In his speech, Abylaykhan Ospanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Almaty Development Center, spoke about preliminary projects that are being developed in six priority areas of the Smart Almaty concept - Smart City, Smart Transport, Smart Housing, Safe City, Smart Services, Health and Education. In his speech, he also presented the results of the assessment of the maturity level of the city of Almaty, which amounted to 1.42 points out of 5. This suggests that the maturity of processes and technologies lies between the lack of centralized project coordination and active cooperation between departments.
The third speaker was Gerald Wang, Head of Government and Education in Asia and Tikhoeania, and he presented the world's best practices for smart cities and touched on the strengths of each of them. The cities of Surat and Beijing have excelled in the direction of Safe City, and the city of Shanghai has excelled in «smart» tourism and culture. In 2007, IDC for the first time developed a conceptual third platform, which at the moment is capable of providing growth of more than 90% in information technology. It consists of four progressive technologies: cloud computing, social networks, mobile technologies and BigData.
Next was the speech of Altai Berdikulov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the ‘SPK Almaty’. He spoke about the project to create an automated information system «Road Safety«. Within the framework of the project, 270 video cameras were installed with the possibility of photo, video recording of vehicles and traffic violations. Introduced students to the main tasks and functions of the system.
The event was continued by the presentation of Kairat Akhmetov, the director of Korkem Telecom, who introduced the audience to the Data driven CITY project.

It was created to improve road safety and reduce accidents, prevent accidents, promptly search for a car by state number and analyze reports on the load on the transport infrastructure.
Vladimir Smirnov, Deputy Director of Almaty Transport Holding, spoke about the public transport control center covering 114 city routes. He also revealed in more detail topics - the Terminal «Driver Assistant«, a web portal and the CityBus mobile application and the Onay project.
Roman Nalepov, Director of Information Technology, Spetstechparkingservice, spoke about automated parking in Almaty and their further promising development.
The event ended with a speech by Rinat Yesengazy, the director of the Eco-park Company. In his presentation, he spoke about the experience of introducing an urban wireless network using LoRaWan technology in an experimental mode.
