The inter-ministerial working group of the Department of Public Service affairs held another meeting on August 9 in the office of the mayor of Almaty.
The event raised issues of protection of disabled people and the quality of services provided to them by the state authorities. Assistance is provided by issuing wheelchairs, sign-typhlotechnical and prosthetic orthopedics, etc. This is an important issue in the protection of persons with disabilities, because negative opinion still continues to take place, and it is aimed at the absence of conditions for persons with disabilities in public places, community service centers, etc.
Bakhytzhanov Gadylzhan, an employee of the Almaty Development Center, took part in the discussion.
«The meeting focused on a socially significant bloc, namely the vulnerable segments of the population in employment and social protection, including the provision of sign-technical means to people with disabilities. I think this is a pressing issue. The issue of parking, entrance for people with disabilities, which at the moment is relevant and in demand in the city, was also considered. There were also shortcomings that the Employment Office reflected at the meeting to eliminate and implement with public organizations,» said a senior analyst at the Business Process Analysis Group.
In general, there has been a positive increase in the provision of special means. Thus, in the first half of this year alone, more prosthetic orthopedic and hygienic products were distributed than in the whole of 2016, and the number of wheelchairs almost reached the norm of 2017. Since January, about 16,000 public services have been provided, and therefore the results of the meeting were made recommendations aimed at improving the public services sector. For example, work will be carried out to optimize the paperwork, train PSC staff in the provision of special means for disabled people, as well as analyze the need of disabled people for «Inva-taxi» services, if necessary, measures will be taken to increase their numbers.
