Almaty continues to develop its emergency response infrastructure. A new fire station is currently under construction in the Shugyla neighbourhood of Nauryzbay District. The facility is being developed as a comprehensive complex combining the infrastructure needed for emergency response, professional training and accommodation for rescue personnel.

In addition to the fire station itself, the project includes service housing, a stadium and dedicated training areas. This integrated approach will provide firefighters and rescuers with facilities for daily operations, professional training and regular physical preparation.

New infrastructure for a rapidly developing district

Nauryzbay District continues to grow, with new residential developments and urban and social infrastructure being built across the area. As the population increases and new neighbourhoods emerge, the need for emergency response and public safety infrastructure grows as well.

The new fire station is intended to strengthen fire protection in this part of Almaty and improve the ability of emergency services to respond promptly when incidents occur.

The location of fire and rescue units is particularly important in a large and expanding city. The closer an emergency unit is to the area it serves, the less time rescuers may need to reach an incident.

More than just a fire station

The new facility is being developed as a comprehensive complex for firefighters and rescue personnel.

Alongside the infrastructure required for emergency operations and specialised vehicles, the project also includes service housing for personnel.

Providing accommodation close to the place of duty creates additional conditions for employees and forms part of a broader approach to developing modern emergency service infrastructure.

Professional and physical training is another important component of the project. A stadium and dedicated training areas will be created within the complex, allowing personnel to regularly practise essential skills and maintain the level of physical fitness required for emergency response.

Why do rescuers need dedicated training facilities?

The work of firefighters and rescue personnel requires continuous preparation. During an emergency, responders must act quickly, operate in difficult conditions and make critical decisions within a limited period of time.

Professional skills and physical fitness are therefore essential elements of emergency service work.

Having dedicated training infrastructure within the complex will allow personnel to train systematically and regularly improve the skills required for real emergency situations.

Developing Almaty’s public safety infrastructure

The construction of new fire stations is an important part of developing Almaty’s wider public safety infrastructure.

As the city expands, the development of housing, roads, schools and public spaces needs to be accompanied by infrastructure that ensures the safety of residents in new and growing neighbourhoods.

New fire stations can bring emergency services closer to residential areas and other urban facilities, while modern operational and training infrastructure provides rescuers with the conditions they need to perform their work effectively.

The new fire station in Shugyla will be more than a base for a fire and rescue unit. It is being developed as a comprehensive facility combining operational, residential and training infrastructure, with the aim of strengthening emergency preparedness and improving safety in one of Almaty’s growing districts.
