Living in a big city invariably leads to many problems and questions. The use of urban services, digital technologies, the convenience of infrastructure for citizens and tourists, concern for the mental health of residents and other serious tasks. Such topics were touched upon by the staff of the Almaty Development Center, who took part in the Moscow Urban Forum from July 17 to 22, 2018.
This year's theme was announced under the motto «Connecting Generations.» On the one hand, there was a rethinking of the infrastructure of the past and the actualization of architectural heritage, and on the other hand, there was a dialogue on how to make the city comfortable and interesting for both active seniors and the «digital generation» of young citizens.
Thus, in his welcoming speech, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted: «Keys to the development of the cities of the future - in the harmony of the technosphere and nature, in creating wide opportunities for citizens, so that the city was comfortable for everyone and everyone felt part of a single urban community.» The head of state presented Moscow as a true trendsetter in terms of the quality and comfort of the urban environment, setting standards for the development of modern metropolises.
«Moscow won main championship of infrastructure development. One of the main trends in the development of modern megacities is information and digitalization. First of all, the government of Moscow creates conditions for the successful work of IT companies, training qualified professionals in this industry. Secondly, as actively as possible, they are actively implementing their products, introducing their products and electronic services in all areas of city life,» the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said in an interview.
Moscow Urban Forum has become a large laboratory for developing answers to the challenges facing major cities. The forum should help formulate meaningful conclusions and practical recommendations that will help develop cities. Adiya Karsybek, architect of the Almaty Development Center, shared her inspiration: «We discussed how cities respond to emerging challenges, rapidly changing socio-economic conditions and a new technological landscape, and the strategic agenda for the development of megacities for the coming decades was considered. In this dialogue, we have identified key aspects that are important to integrate into the agenda of every city, including Almaty.« по ссылке
