Historic Residential Buildings in Almaty Undergo Facade Renovation

Almaty continues the phased renovation of residential buildings located in the city's historic center as part of its broader urban improvement program. The initiative aims to preserve the city's architectural character while enhancing the appearance of public spaces and improving living conditions for residents.

One of the latest examples is the residential building at 40 Abay Avenue, where the facade is being clad with natural stone. The project also includes the renovation of entrance areas, stairways, and railings, giving the building a renewed appearance while increasing safety and functionality.

Large-scale renovation works are currently underway in the Almaly, Medeu, and Bostandyk districts. In total, the program will cover 178 apartment buildings across the city.

To date, facade renovation has been fully completed on three buildings, while work is currently in progress on another 99 buildings.

The phased modernization of residential facades is part of Almaty's comprehensive urban development strategy, aimed at preserving the city's historical identity, improving architectural quality, and creating a more attractive, comfortable, and sustainable urban environment for residents and visitors alike.
