The Ritz-Carlton Almaty hosted the IDC Smart City Forum 2017 with the official support of the Almaty Mayor's Office. The strategic partner was the Almaty City Development Center.
- I have been waiting for this moment for a long time: we wanted to hold this forum after Almaty will determine the main areas of the Smart City project, so that we can talk about them in a substantive way. I am glad that today we can start this conversation,» Andrei Beklemishev, IDC Regional Director for Central Asia, Azerbaijan and Mongolia, said opening the forum.
-We live in a very fast time. Technologies are changing, and, as best practice shows, the most sustainable projects are in demand both by residents of the city and the city administration. Therefore, the priorities of «Smart Almaty» are, first of all, the issues of safety and comfort of life of citizens, the openness and accountability of the work of the authorities, as well as the improvement of public administration,» Zhanna Tulegenova, Chairman of the Board of the Development Center of Almaty, emphasized in her welcoming speech. – «Our first priority is to optimize business processes, ensure the openness and reliability of databases and improve budget administration. Firstly, the administration is ready to introduce projects that are profitable for the local budget, useful to the maximum of citizens at optimal budget costs. The main tool here is service contracts with a fair distribution of risks. Second, the administration supports a private initiative by creating a level playing field. Thirdly, Smart Almaty means data openness. Project implementation is a modular approach.»
