Today, the Chairman of the Board of the Almaty City Development Center, Zhanna Tulegenova, met with the official delegation of Tatarstan, headed by Igor Saveljev, Deputy Chief of staff of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The event was also attended by Almas Madiev, head of the Almaty Department of Entrepreneurship, Industrial and Innovation Development, and Arsen Nasyrkhanov, regional director of the representative office of KAZAKH INVEST.
During the meeting, Zhanna Tulegenova spoke about the Center's activities, as well as the project approach in the implementation of urban initiatives. The main ones are Smart City, urban projects and improving the quality of public services for citizens and businesses. In her speech, she emphasized that the results of Almaty's work on the practical implementation of reforms for business are highly appreciated by the World Bank's research. So Kazakhstan, which is rated by the city of Almaty, in the international ranking of Doing Business at the end of last year made a leap from 51st to 35th place.
«At the central level in 2015-2016 40 regulations have been adopted. However, it is not enough to adopt a standard or rules, the main thing is to enforce them in practice to the extent that the sustainability of these changes is felt by entrepreneurs. To do this, the Center conducted monthly research using Mystery Shopping with the involvement of entrepreneurs themselves,» she explained.
Zh. Tulegenova also elaborated on projects to develop public spaces in the city: designing parks and squares, reconstructing pedestrian streets, etc. According to her, «at every stage of the projects, the city relies on the opinion of experts and citizens, conducts city workshops, public discussions to achieve a balance between the population, business and the government.»
In his turn, Igor Saveljev noted the high level of development of the city's improvement. «You take good care of gardens and parks,» he commented.
He also stressed that the purpose of their visit is to study the experience of public administration on the ground. According to him, «Almaty has not only preserved the traditions of the people, but is also in the fairway of advanced international development.»
In his speech, he briefly focused on the smart projects of Tatarstan and talked about Russia's first IT city in Innopolis, built 40 km from Kazan. I. Saveliev also expressed interest in exchanging experience on projects to introduce the next generation of LoRaWan (Long Range Wireless Area Network) in housing and utilities. Recall that today in Almaty such a network is piloted. This project will allow to automate the collection of indicators from water, electricity and heat metering devices without the participation of inspectors.
Saveljev pointed to significant potential for increased cooperation within the framework of the Safe City program and the development of public spaces. «We are interested in raising cooperation with Almaty to a high level. It is necessary to develop concrete measures and adopt the Roadmap in order to strengthen our bilateral trade and investment ties,» he suggested.
Following the meeting, Igor Saveliev invited the Almaty delegation to visit Kazan and the IT-capital Innopolis for further exchange of experience.
